Levitating Icosahedron

In the pursuit of maximum freedom of movement and the “purity” of vibration, the idea arose to suspend and float the geometric structures under investigation. From this need and curiosity, Icshdrn lvt (levitating icosahedron) was born. It is one of the Platonic solids which, thanks to a magnetic levitation device that keeps it suspended, is set into vibration without any external contact.

The prototype, showcased at the Rossana Orlandi gallery, has a base edge measuring 10 cm. In the production of the final product, the solid will be larger, offering greater clarity on the origin and natural spatialisation of the sound within the figure.
